Sportsshoes.com is an online sports clothing store founded in 1982 by former professional footballer Bruce Bannister and based in Shipley, West Yorkshire. In 1985, SportsShoes launched its mail order service and later became one of the first retailers to launch an e-commerce website. After Bannister retired from the company his son, Brett Bannister took over and changed the company name to Sportsshoes.com, eventually in 2012 turning the company an exclusively online and mail order operation. The online store has a £24m turnover as of 2013 and employs 104 staff at its distribution centre. In 2015, the London Stock Exchange Group placed Sportsshoes.com in its database of 1000 Companies to Inspire Britain. In June 2015, Sportsshoes.com was ranked in 30th place in the Investec Mid-Market 100 list, a national list of the fastest growing businesses in the UK.
